The smart cities mission is one of the most desirable schemes by the government of India. This area perfectly fits the bill after a vigorous analysis of following terms such technical, social or non-political analysis. Under this mission in this area has lots more possibilities of societal development, economic development, health and education development, transport development, riverfront development and lots more. The Aundh-Baner is the entry point into Pune from Mumbai so it needs to get developed. In the scheme of the smart city mission once the area gets developed it is easy can be followed or the models can be replicated in other cities also. Therefore, it is an area which can easily be developed and replicated in other areas parts of cities also.

Procedure of Identifying an Area for Smart City Mission

It is a 3 step process by which Pune city has represented an Aundh-Baner as a pilot project under the smart city plan:

Step 1:

Formation of an expert team in which urban planners and architects are included. The team will further discuss over several regions under the city and finds out the most suitable areas for the development after several meetings and analysis.

Step 2:

After this procedure citizens also explore the various areas that have gone through various analyses and presents their preferred maximum five regions.

Step 3:

After all these processes the final step is taken by the members of committees, including commissioners and elected representatives. The members will then decide the potential area for the development of a smart city.
